From Uyuni / Ending in San Pedro de Atacama, by private service
3-day tour starting in Uyuni and ending in San Pedro de Atacama, in private service
Day 1
To begin this experience, we depart from the office or hotel and visit the Train Cemetery located on the outskirts of the city of Uyuni, then head toward the village of Colchani, whose main activity is salt harvesting, where we will visit a salt processing factory. We are now at the gateway to the immense Uyuni Salt Flat; in the first kilometers we will find natural water springs and salt harvesting areas, as well as the world’s first salt hotel, Playa Blanca, which today is an open museum. It is time to travel along the salt highway for about 70 km to visit the Incahuasi Island, located in the center of the salt flat, where we will see enormous cacti and Andean vegetation, and we will be able to reach the summit to enjoy a spectacular 360º view. Next, we head toward the shores of the salt flat, where we will enjoy the sunset. Accommodation in salt hotels (Palacio de Sal, Luna Salada, Cristal Samaña), dinner.
Day 2
With sunrise, we head toward the mining town of San Cristóbal. Along the route, we will observe quinoa fields and camelid livestock before entering the great Andes mountain range. We will see the Valle de las Rocas, a place full of eroded volcanic formations where your imagination can play with these interesting shapes. We will visit the viewpoint of the volcán Ollague, then continue toward the lagunas Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarkota, and Honda, where flamingos live, and where we can also appreciate the high Andean flora and fauna such as vicuñas, llamas, and vizcachas, among others. We will then arrive at the desierto de Siloli. Accommodation at Hotel del Desierto or Hotel Flamenco.
Day 3
Early in the morning we continue through the desierto de siloli to visit the Árbol de Piedra, and then visit Laguna Colorada, located within the Reserva Nacional de Flora y Fauna Andina Eduardo Abaroa, habitat of the James flamingo. Next, we head to an impressive altitude of nearly 5,000 meters above sea level to visit the Sol de Mañana geothermal field. Afterward, we visit the Polques hot springs, where there are small pools with water at 37°C, ideal for relaxing the body. We then visit the desierto de Dalí, so named because of its incredible landscape, similar to paintings by the famous Spanish artist Salvador Dalí. Continuing along the route, we arrive at Laguna Verde and Laguna Blanca, located at the foot of impressive volcanoes such as the Licancabur. If you are traveling to the neighboring country of Chile, we head to the Hito Cajones border, where a private transfer takes you to San Pedro de Atacama, 47 km from the border, or return to the city of Uyuni.
